Comelec

IFES continues to provide assistance to the COMELEC to build its internal administrative capacities and modernize electoral practices. With the help of its international election experts, IFES help in reviewing technical issues related to the conduct of a free and fair electoral process in an automated election, including pre-election testing of voting machines, timely transmission, and consolidation and posting of results.

For the 2010 elections, IFES will provide its training expertise to the pool of COMELEC technical resource officers in drafting user-friendly poll worker training materials (quick guide) for the 2010 elections. The quick guide will help fill any gaps left by the COMELEC training program to empower nearly one half million poll workers to properly manage their polling station on election day and efficiently address any challenges brought about by  significant changes to previous procedures due to the newly- automated system.

IFES will continue to support COMELEC activities to increase human resources development and technical expertise of COMELEC officials and key personnel and increase their access to international electoral best practices. This will be done through the conduct of the internationally renowned election administration and management training program, Building Resources in Democracy, Governance, and Elections (BRIDGE); advisory services with regard to implementing existing campaign finance laws; a training workshop on international election standards, to mention a few.
